Travel to London

By Air: London is served by 5 major airports: Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and London City Airport. You can read official directions on how to get to central London from each of these airports, but the short answer is that there are frequent trains and coaches.

By Train: Eurostar is a convenient way to get to central London from Paris, Brussels and Lille.

Royal Society location

Directions to the Royal Society

The Royal Society is located in Carlton House Terrace, just off Waterloo Place, between Pall Mall and The Mall. It is five minutes walk to Piccadilly Circus underground station and ten minutes to Charing Cross mainline and underground stations, or 20 minutes through St James's Park to Victoria. Trafalgar Square, and all bus services through it, are also very close.

Hotel Suggestions

Here are some suggestions for lower priced accommodation, relative to typical London prices. The organisers are not specially recommending these establishments; we've simply done a bit of legwork to find cheaper options that appear to be suitable and within reasonable travelling distance of the Royal Society. A simple web search (e.g., for "London hotels") will provide many other options.

Keep an eye on this page—we may add further suggestions if we find any.

Weather

London in late March is at the very start of Spring, and the weather is hard to predict. Rain is likely, and freezing cold is a possibility. Bring warm and water-proof clothes!
